It's Summer: Where Will Brooklyn Teens Go?
Briefly

The Flatbush YMCA serves as a crucial resource for local teens, particularly following recent bans on adolescents by nearby chains due to violence. Open mainly after school hours, the Y hosts a variety of programs tailored to teen interests, such as recreational basketball, cooking classes, and an anime club, reflecting feedback from the students. Furthermore, civic initiatives like Teens Take the City aim to engage youth in community awareness and activism, empowering them to identify issues in their neighborhoods and become active participants in addressing them.
I really want to emphasize that we always do an intake of what the students like so we can gear the academic stuff in a manner that is something they're interested in.
Even if they're unaware of what's going on in their neighborhood, this gives them the access to say, 'Hmmm, let me study my neighborhood and actually see what I don't notice every single day, what I've adapted to and what I actually disagree with.'
