""The BKLYN Robotics League provides children and teens the opportunity to not only learn about building and programming robots, but also to develop their collaboration and communication skills,""
The BKLYN Library Robotics League championship at the Brooklyn Public Central Library gathered teams from libraries across the borough to compete in robotics challenges. The Irving Hawks of the Washington Irving Library won the 2023 champion title, with Clarendon and Kings Bay placing second and third; all three advance to a citywide tournament. The theme "Unearthed" tasked participants to excavate, recover artifacts, and reconstruct structures using LEGO SPIKE robotics and creative problem-solving. Participants aged 9 to 17 collaborated with an organization that empowers diverse students in STEM. The library system offers teen tech centers, internships, computer courses, and advanced workshops in 3D printing, AI, and media.
