On May 27, three indie music acts—Palehound, The Ophelias, and Grumpy—will perform a benefit concert at Baby's All Right to support the Immigrant Defense Project (IDP). Proceeds will aid IDP's mission to protect immigrant rights against systemic issues, including deportation and detention. El Kempner of Palehound emphasizes the importance of collective actions to resist oppression, while Spencer Peppet of The Ophelias highlights the urgent need for vocal support amidst rising anti-immigrant sentiment. Grumpy, a rising band, will showcase their talent, adding to the event's significance in raising awareness for immigrant issues.
Bringing people together to celebrate and protect the oppressed, even in the smallest of groups, is an important and accessible vehicle of resistance.
It's more important than ever to be vocal in our support for immigrants and those affected by these draconian laws. It will not stop until we make it.
