Group of teens believed to be behind string of armed robberies at Brooklyn small businesses
""They just said, 'If you stay calm and corporate, this will be over really quickly,'" said Cawdrey. "And they were out in a minute.""
""There is now a fear that wasn't there before," said Cawdrey."
""They were really quick about it," said Frankson. "They came in, they got the cash and left.""
""It's unfortunate because it makes it feel like the neighborhood is going backwards," said Frankson."
A trio of teenagers is believed to have carried out a string of armed robberies targeting small businesses in Brooklyn. One incident at Willougby General in Bushwick occurred around 6:15 p.m., with faces covered and dark clothing, resulting in about $250 and an employee's cellphone taken. The same group reportedly robbed Liquid Assets on Nostrand Avenue in Bed-Stuy twice in one week, taking about $800 total. Surveillance video from Jan. 4 shows a gun pulled on a cashier while others searched registers and the back of the store. No injuries were reported; owners have increased security, staffing, and shortened hours.
