FDNY Fire Marshals arrested Lisen Pan, the site manager of Everbright Trading Company, after seizing over 1,000 illegal fireworks worth $250,000 on June 24. This action was part of a wider investigation aimed at public safety threats before Independence Day. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez highlighted the danger posed by such powerful fireworks in a dense urban environment, noting Pan's conduct not only violated laws but risked public safety. Pan faces several charges, including criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, alongside multiple safety violations regarding the building conditions.
"Fireworks are illegal in New York and can be especially dangerous in the closed confines of our city," said Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
"The massive amount of powerful fireworks allegedly possessed by this defendant made his conduct not only unlawful, but also a danger to public safety that necessitated decisive action."
Pan's arrest followed a multi-agency probe targeting public safety threats ahead of Independence Day.
He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, as well as given several safety citations over the conditions of the building.
