Farragut Stakeholders Celebrate Student Success at Scholarship Dinner
Briefly

The Farragut Stakeholders Group hosted its second annual College Scholarship Awards Dinner at Rustik Tavern, honoring recipients Ashantie Howard, Mariah Wilcher, and Malaya Williams. Each student, residing in Farragut Houses, maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA and navigated a competitive selection process that included academic and community contributions. Each received a $2,500 scholarship, gift packages, and refurbished laptops from TechFin, aimed at bridging the digital divide. The event emphasized the transformative impact of education and support for local youth.
"Growing up in Farragut Public Housing, I often wished for the kind of opportunities these young women are receiving today. I remember all too well the challenges I faced, especially the lack of financial support, it was a painful reality. Seeing the joy and pride on their faces now fills me with hope and affirms that the efforts we've made over the years have truly borne fruit," said Latrel Mosso, leader of the Farragut Stakeholders.
Each recipient maintained a GPA of at least 3.0 and completed a competitive process. Applicants shared academic achievements, extracurricular work, community service and essays.
Awardees received a $2,500 scholarship check, an FSG swag bag and a special gift bag from Brooklyn Org, the group's fiscal sponsor.
They received refurbished laptops from TechFin, a Brooklyn nonprofit tackling the digital divide by refurbishing and redistributing used computers to low-income families.
