Death Cab for Cutie will perform at Brooklyn Paramount on August 8, 10, and 12 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album 'Plans.' The band will play the album in full and include surprise songs from their catalog. Formed in 1997, the group gained recognition with their album 'Transatlanticism' in 2003. 'Plans,' released in 2005, features popular tracks such as 'Soul Meets Body' and 'I Will Follow You into the Dark.' Bassist Nick Harmer shared that performing the album evokes nostalgia and transformed meanings over time. He highlighted the emotional weight of tracks like 'What Sarah Said.'
Playing 'Plans' is as close to stepping into a time machine as I'll ever get in my life. I can easily go back to the memories of making that album.
There's a real sense of nostalgia. But also, at this life stage, the songs carry a different gravity.
I've had more experiences in ICUs since then, more personal memories that bring up emotion. It's remarkable how much of life washes over me while playing.
