Cops save woman dangling from edge of New York skyscraper in harrowing rescue
"ESU members raced up to the sun deck where two cops tethered themselves to a chest-high wall on the roof and vaulted over the plexiglass partition to join he woman. Through it all, the cops tried to calm the woman down as they asked her to join them back on the sun deck. "I'm here now, OK," one ESU cop is heard assuring the woman. "I told you I was going to come and help you. Listen to me, we're going to do this together.""
NYPD Emergency Services Unit officers rescued a 41-year-old woman who was seated on the edge of a 58-story Brooklyn skyscraper about 30 stories above the sidewalk. Body-worn camera footage shows officers pleading with her not to jump while she cried and held onto an opening in the plexiglass partition. The woman asked officers to tell her parents she loved them as wind was heard and her skirt flapped. Officers reached her, calmed her, and called ESU. ESU members raced to the sun deck, tethered themselves to a roof wall, and vaulted over the plexiglass to join her. Officers reassured her they would help her and offered time to sit safely while ensuring she was okay.
