The NYC Health Department will start aerial larviciding from June 2-4 to control mosquito populations and reduce West Nile virus risk. The treatment targets nonresidential marshes and wetlands across all five boroughs using a low-flying helicopter. "As summer approaches, many of us will be swarmed by mosquitoes as we spend more time outdoors," said Acting Health Commissioner Dr. Michelle Morse.
To date, no human cases of West Nile virus have been reported this season, underscoring the importance of proactive mosquito control measures.
