Christians join together for Good Friday Way of the Cross
Briefly

The annual Way of the Cross procession, orchestrated by the Communion and Liberation movement, will take place on the Brooklyn Bridge this Good Friday. This year's event is particularly significant as it unites Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christians, whose calendars align for Holy Week. Kicking off at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. James, participants will journey across the bridge, pausing to reflect on Gospel readings and music. The procession culminates at the Orthodox Shrine of St. Nicholas, symbolizing hope and renewal after 9/11.

The procession will head across the Brooklyn Bridge, with pauses for Gospel passages and choral music to contemplate the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Communion and Liberation is an international lay movement in the Catholic Church, founded by Monsignor Luigi Giussani in 1954.
Participants will gather at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. James, greeted by Bishops and Cardinals before embarking on the procession.
