Chi Osse, Councilmembers rally with CAMBA IT workers over outsourcing threat
"DOWNTOWN - COUNCILMEMBER CHI OSSE joined unionized CAMBA IT workers last Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Brooklyn Borough Hall, to condemn CAMBA's plan to outsource its IT department while workers remain on strike, according to press statements from City Council. Workers say CAMBA ended negotiations and moved to replace the entire IT unit with an outside contractor amid demands for pay equity."
"Union leaders allege CAMBA reassigned duties, restricted system access and reduced workloads after the union formed, actions they say violate federal labor law. Ossé, representing Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights, and 18 other Council members urged the nonprofit to withdraw the outsourcing threat, return to bargaining, and reach a fair contract with the CAMBA IT Workers Union (UAW Local 2325). Councilmembers warned that replacing long-tenured IT staff at a large, publicly funded nonprofit could jeopardize data security and core services for New Yorkers."
