Gustav A. Richter moved to Canarsie in 1893 and spent the next seven decades filling it with music, leading various bands and playing in dance halls across Canarsie.
Victor E. Lopez, a lifelong resident of Canarsie, was active in organizations and generously supported the community, including providing the first month's rent for the Canarsie Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
