BWBA's 'Judiciary Night' acknowledges new, re-elected and appointed jurists
"I remember being a law clerk, and my mentor, Judge Marsha Steinhardt, was one of the first people to put this together,"
"As a non-judicial professional, it was really thrilling for me to mingle and talk to the judges, see who they are and what they're about."
"This is one of our biggest, most attended events. It's incredibly special,"
"Women belong in every room and at every table where decisions are made - and we are the people who have a responsibility to make sure that happens,"
The Brooklyn Women's Bar Association held its annual Judiciary Night at 45 Monroe Place in the Appellate Division, Second Department. The event recognized newly elected, re-elected, appointed and reappointed judges and paid tribute to Presiding Justice Hector LeSalle. Co-chairs Hon. Consuelo Mallafré Meléndez and Hon. Sylvia Hinds-Radix emphasized the event's role in fostering interaction between the bar and the bench and in allowing attorneys to meet judges from lower courts and the Appellate Division. BWBA President Lisa Michael described the gathering as one of the organization's biggest and most attended events. LeSalle commended the BWBA for advancing women in Brooklyn's legal community and expressed humility in receiving recognition. Hinds-Radix noted LeSalle's longstanding support for female jurists and members of the bar.
