Athena Keke's, a queer sports bar in Brooklyn, is set to open in summer 2025, founded by Claudia Capriles and Alexandra Murray. The bar aims to foster a community for women’s sports fans, especially those interested in international competitions. Their idea was inspired by a lack of venues showing women's sports during their travels. The pair hosted successful watch parties, which also incorporated political discussions to educate attendees. With the rise of women's sports popularity, particularly after the success of the New York Liberty, Athena Keke's is positioned to be a welcoming space.

The pop-up watch sessions grew beyond just watching games, as we worked with community organizations to host political events, helping members understand candidates' platforms.
