"Law enforcement sources said a driver behind the wheel of a black 2026 Acura Integra was traveling northbound on the roadway when he collided with the child, who was riding a scooter. The collision was so severe that debris was sent hurtling through the air, some of which struck a 25-year-old pedestrian. Despite the impact, police reported, the Acura driver did not stop and instead sped away from the scene."
"EMS rushed both victims to Maimonides Medical Center where the 11-year-old is listed in critical condition. The 25-year-old suffered minor injuries to his leg. Pieces of the child's destroyed scooter could be seen scattered around the crash site as members of the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad probed the crash."
The collision occurred around 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 13 on Avenue V at Ocean Parkway in Gravesend. A driver of a black 2026 Acura Integra struck an 11-year-old boy who was riding a scooter while traveling northbound, then fled the scene. Debris from the crash struck a 25-year-old pedestrian. EMS transported both victims to Maimonides Medical Center; the 11-year-old is in critical condition and the 25-year-old suffered minor leg injuries. The Acura was later found abandoned near Ocean Parkway and Avenue R. Pieces of the scooter and a sneaker were scattered on the rain-slick roadway. The NYPD investigation is ongoing and Crime Stoppers is seeking tips.
