Brooklyn church leader detained by ICE: 'Everyone deserves due process'
"You cannot just randomly walk up to people, racially profile them, look at them like they're other, And because of the color of their skin, and their mannerisms, or whatever other things you have as an agent in your brain, assume or presume that they are here illegally."
"everybody is entitled to due process."
"We have to stand up against this nonsense. Against this illegal act by our president,"
"We have to make sure everyone deserves due process, regardless of what legal status you have in this country."
Sebastian Ordonez, 58, a deacon from Guatemala, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after leaving his apartment because he lacked legal immigration status. Family and close friends report no history of violent crime and nearly 20 years of involvement in the Brooklyn community. Legal counsel acknowledges Ordonez is not legally in the country but stresses that everybody is entitled to due process and warns against racial profiling. Local elected officials and religious leaders joined community members to demand swift federal action to end immigration enforcement and to call for Ordonez's release. PIX11 contacted the Department of Homeland Security for details.
