In 2025, the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) will disperse a record $1.82 million in grants to Brooklyn artists and organizations, marking a significant increase in funding. The 2025 Creative Cohort consists of 378 recipients, with nearly two-thirds of the amount going towards community-focused initiatives in areas facing systemic barriers. Executive Director Rasu Jilani stressed BAC's commitment to fostering the local arts scene despite financial challenges, highlighting the importance of promoting diverse voices and supporting the community through various funding streams and partnerships with state and city arts agencies.

Since the pandemic, we have steadily increased the number of grants and opportunities each year, reinforcing our mission to support Brooklyn artists regardless of culture, creed, or gender.
