Mayor Eric Adams announced that the No Kings Day rally in Manhattan was largely peaceful due to the New York Police Department's use of drones to monitor potential disruptors. He noted that by leveraging aerial surveillance technology, the police were able to identify and preemptively address outside agitators amidst a crowd of 50,000. While there were 14 arrests, they were solely for disorderly conduct, underscoring that the event was managed effectively and without violent incidents, demonstrating the capabilities of modern policing technology.
We used technology drones that allowed us to monitor the entire crowd and intel. We knew that there were outside agitators that wanted to disrupt.
All of the 14 arrests, in the crowd of 50,000, were for disorderly conduct; none were for violent offenses.
