A mural titled 'The Sun Will Rise Again' was unveiled at Kings County Family Court on August 12 as part of the Creative Art Work nonprofit's Public Art Youth Employment program. Over five weeks, youth apprentices designed the mural, which features Brooklyn imagery and aims to represent support for those who enter the courthouse. The event was attended by families and judges, highlighting the mural's themes of hope, unity, and resilience and underscoring the partnership's commitment to uplifting young artists and their community.
"One of our first lessons in this program was the definition of public art. What does it mean, who is it for and why do we create it? Working these past few weeks, I can give you our answer: this is a mural for everyone."
"Everyone who enters this courthouse leaves with our support. We help everyone who comes in, no matter what. And that's exactly the impression we want to give our community. We are all that village raising these children."
