A Brooklyn Fitness Club Mixes Running With Afro-Caribbean Culture
Briefly

Peak and Pace is a Brooklyn-based social club founded by Owen Akhibi Herrera to foster community through running and social events. Born from Herrera's own need for connection after relocating from London, the club started with a simple run on Governors Island and has since grown to over 40,000 members participating in weekly runs at Prospect Park. With events ranging from comedy shows to ski trips, Peak and Pace promotes inclusivity and offers a supportive environment that has transformed many participants' lives and perspectives on running and community.
"I'm passionate about building community, and running felt like the perfect foundation. It's rooted in movement, motivation and connection..."
"I have people come up to me and say, 'You have changed my life. I haven't run in 10 years...' It truly changes people's daily lives..."
