"An 80-year-old man who was chatting with a friend on a Brooklyn street Thursday morning was mercilessly slashed across the face by a menace with a lengthy rap sheet, cops and sources said. The octogenarian and his pal were talking at Knickerbocker Avenue and Troutman Street in Bushwick around 6:30 a.m. when 56-year-old Israel Rivera allegedly approached the pair. "I'm going to cut you," he hissed before he knifed the older man across the face. The unidentified victim was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was treated for the lacerations on his face."
"Rivera, who police describe as an acquaintance of the victim, was arrested at the scene and hit with multiple charges, including felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and possession of a controlled substance. Rivera has eight prior arrests before Thursday's senseless assault - and it's not his first time terrorizing Brooklynites on Knickerbocker Avenue. On Oct. 17, 2022, he was nabbed for allegedly shooting a 63-year-old male cyclist in the leg on the very same avenue. According to police, Rivera and the victim, whom he did not know, got into an argument. His most recent arrest was in June for criminal possession of stolen property."
