5-year-old boy survives fall from window in Brooklyn building

A 5-year-old boy fell five stories from a fifth-floor window in a Brooklyn housing complex after attempting to retrieve toys that had fallen outside. The fall occurred Wednesday at the Sheepshead Bay houses near Ave V. and Batchelder St. Responders arrived around 12 p.m. and found the child conscious and alert. Emergency Medical Services transported the child to Maimonides Medical Center. Scans revealed bleeding in the brain, and the child underwent surgery. The child was reported to be in stable condition following the operation.
