"According to police, the driver of a black 2026 Acura Integra was traveling northbound on Ocean Parkway at 5:50 p.m. when they collided with the child, who was riding an motorized scooter, at the corner of Avenue V. The collision was so severe that debris hurtled through the air, striking a 25-year-old pedestrian nearby. Despite the impact, police reported, the Acura driver did not stop and instead sped away from the scene."
"Both victims were rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where the 11-year-old is listed in critical condition. The 25-year-old suffered minor injuries to his leg. The black Acura was later found abandoned in Ocean Parkway and Avenue R, police said. Pieces of the child's destroyed scooter could be seen scattered around the crash site as members of the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad investigated on Monday night. A sneaker was also spotted in the middle of the rain-slick roadway."
