Mayor Michelle Wu announced a selection of free cultural events at City Hall Plaza this summer and fall, funded by the City Hall Plaza Engagement grant program. These events are designed to promote community unity and celebrate local talent. Following a competitive selection process, various groups received funding and support. Previous events attracted over 21,000 attendees, and this year's lineup includes diverse offerings such as "Slam Theater" and "Spicetoberfest," featuring cross-cultural and intergenerational collaborations.
"With this funding, we can ensure that our event is inclusive, accessible, and professionally produced," Annie Le said. "For our communities, it means recognition, representation, and pride."
The events aim to foster community unity and celebrate local talent, according to the release. This year marks the third year of similar programming.
