Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, famed for their roles in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, will reunite on Broadway to perform Waiting for Godot, directed by Jamie Lloyd. The play will be staged at the Hudson Theatre from September 13, 2025, to January 4, 2026, with an official opening set for September 28. Reeves and Winter will portray Estragon and Vladimir, central characters waiting for the enigmatic Godot. This revival, merging comedy and existential themes, has generated excitement among fans and skeptics alike.
The wait is over! This week, however, Waiting for Godot's producers nailed down many of the details. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the production will run at the Hudson Theatre.
Reeves will play the role of Estragon and Winter will be Vladimir; casting for the play's other two major roles has not yet been announced.
Waiting for Godot, which Beckett wrote in French, debuted in Paris in 1953; his English version premiered in 1955 and reached Broadway the following year.
The play depicts a pair of men in a barren landscape, killing time as they await the long-delayed arrival of a mystery man named Godot.
