Tufts University has been included in Forbes's 2025 'The New Ivies' list, alongside prestigious institutions like Northwestern University and Georgetown University. This list, initiated in 2024, reflects a shift in employer preferences, revealing a decreasing inclination to hire graduates from traditional Ivy League schools. Patrick Collins, a spokesperson for Tufts, emphasized that this recognition demonstrates the university's commitment to exceptional education, groundbreaking research, and community support, ultimately aiding students in launching successful careers. Notably, Tufts has a diverse student body with over 6,800 undergraduates and nearly 6,400 graduate students.
We're happy that our inclusion on this list will help people unfamiliar with Tufts recognize what our students and alumni have always known: Tufts is a special place that provides an excellent education.
The New Ivies list started in 2024 after Forbes found that about a third of employers were less likely to hire applicants from Ivy League schools now compared to five years ago.
Forbes highlighted 10 public and 10 private universities that are reportedly on par or exceed Ivy League standards and are more attractive to employers.
Tufts currently has more than 6,800 undergraduate students and nearly 6,400 graduate students enrolled and has about 150 major and minor offerings.
