Discovery of HMS Endeavor wreck confirmed
Briefly

The Australian National Maritime Museum and the Rhode Island Marine Archaeology Project have confirmed that a recently discovered shipwreck is the HMS Endeavour. After a statement from RIMAP in 2022 deemed earlier announcements premature, new evidence now supports the identification. Key findings include UK timber and unique structural features. The Endeavour was historically significant for Captain James Cook’s voyages, particularly for mapping parts of New Zealand and Australia's eastern coastline before its scuttling during the American Revolution. The final report highlights substantial similarities with documented 18th-century ships.
The timbers are British timbers. The size of all the timber scantlings are almost identical to , and I'm talking within millimeters—not inches, but millimeters.
The stem scarf is identical, absolutely identical. This stem scarf is also a very unique feature—we've gone through a whole bunch of 18th-century ships' plans, and we can't find anything else like it.
