Earl Paul, a 90-year-old Ocean City resident known as the 'Number One Beach Bum,' has made over 10,000 beach visits throughout nearly three decades. After retiring from a 40-year career as a pipe fitter, Paul and his wife Catherine moved to Ocean City in the 1990s. Following Catherine's death shortly after their move, Paul turned to the beach as a source of healing. He became committed to visiting daily whenever possible, a routine made convenient by his proximity to the shore. Paul continues this practice with no intention of stopping, demonstrating the profound impact the beach has had on his life.
