What Hunter Dobbins said of report he made false claims about dad's playing career with Yankees
Briefly

Hunter Dobbins, a rookie for the Red Sox, has ignited tensions in the rivalry with the Yankees by declaring he would retire before joining New York. He claimed his father, Lance, had ties to the organization, but investigations revealed discrepancies in those statements. The New York Post reported that multiple sources, including Yankees GM Brian Cashman and former team officials, found no record of Lance Dobbins being drafted or traded by the team. Former Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte also couldn't recall Lance, putting Dobbins’ claims under scrutiny.
Dobbins' father, Lance, does not come up as a Yankee draft pick in any search of the team's selections on Baseball Reference from any single season.
Yankees GM Brian Cashman, who has been with the organization since the late 1980s, has no recollection of the Yankees drafting Lance Dobbins.
When contacted by The Post, both Joe Garagiola Jr. and Buck Showalter said they had no memory of a Lance Dobbins, or of making a trade with the Yankees.
Pettitte added that he nor anyone he asked in his family remembers Lance Dobbins.
