Two Red Sox outfielders earn Gold Glove Awards
"The Red Sox ' outfield took home some hardware for the 2025 season - as both Wilyer Abreu and Ceddanne Rafaela were named as 2025 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners on Sunday night. This marks the second straight year where Abreu has won the A.L. Gold Glove in right field - with the 26-year-old winning the award over the Rangers' Adolis García and Astros' Cam Smith. Rafaela, 25, is a first-time winner after beating out a pair of other finalists Royals' Kyle Isbel and Mariners' Julio Rodríguez."
"Even though Abreu was limited to just 115 games this past season due to injuries, his eight Outs Above Average led all A.L. right fielders - as did his seven runs prevented. Rafaela led all A.L. centerfielders with both 21 Outs Above Average and 19 runs prevented - with only Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong leading him across the big leagues."
Wilyer Abreu and Ceddanne Rafaela were named 2025 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners, giving the Red Sox multiple winners for the first time since 2018. Abreu earned his second straight A.L. Gold Glove in right field over Adolis García and Cam Smith despite being limited to 115 games. Abreu led A.L. right fielders with eight Outs Above Average and seven runs prevented. Rafaela won his first Gold Glove after leading A.L. centerfielders with 21 Outs Above Average and 19 runs prevented, trailing only Pete Crow-Armstrong across MLB. Rookie catcher Carlos Narvaez threw out 32 potential base stealers but lost the Gold Glove to Dillon Dingler.
