FanGraphs credited him with 3.5 wins above replacement even though injuries limited him to just 114 games."

Kim offers multi-position defense and speed, producing 10.5 fWAR from 2022–24 but declined in 2025 after shoulder surgery, hitting .234/.304/.345 in 48 games with reduced arm strength and negative defensive metrics at shortstop. Contract projections differ sharply: Bregman around $160M over six years, Kim about $30M over two years.
