He was granted his release from a non-roster deal with the Detroit Tigers last week and has had brief big-league stints with the Yankees and Detroit, during which he allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 MLB innings. Hartlieb has a 3.57 ERA and a near-28% strikeout rate in 45 1/3 Triple-A innings this season. He has made 68 major league appearances, owns a career 8.00 earned-runs-per-nine in 82 2/3 MLB innings, and has a 4.18 ERA across parts of six Triple-A campaigns. Hartlieb primarily uses a mid-80s slider and a 94-95 MPH fastball and will try to earn a middle-relief role before the end of the year; he would reach minor league free agency in the offseason if not called up.
