Bryce Elder entered with a 1.97 ERA in 11 starts and posted three scoreless innings before Boston scored six runs, five earned, in the fourth inning. The six-run inning was only the second such inning by Boston this season, matching a 10-3 win over the Tigers on May 5. Boston remained the only team without 10 home victories, with a chance to reach double digits by beating Chris Sale.
