Phillies Release Joe Ross, Place Jordan Romano On Injured List
Briefly

Jordan Romano has been placed on the 15-day injured list for inflammation in his right middle finger. Lou Trivino and Daniel Robert appear to have taken roster spots previously held by Ross and struggling right-hander Jordan Romano. A veteran right-hander who signed a one-year, $4 million contract this offseason has been released after compiling a 5.12 ERA in 51 innings, including three runs allowed in his final inning with Philadelphia. The Phillies selected the contract of righty Lou Trivino and recalled right-hander Daniel Robert. Romano's roster status could be an injured-list placement rather than a release or designation for assignment.
3:10pm: Romano has indeed been placed on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right middle finger, the Phillies announced.
3:07pm: Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer tweets that Trivino and Robert "appear" to have taken the spots of Ross and struggling righty Jordan Romano. That doesn't necessarily indicate that Romano has been released or designated for assignment, however. He could potentially be headed to the injured list, for instance.
3:03pm: The Phillies are releasing veteran right-hander , reports Matt Gelb of The Athletic. The veteran swingman signed a one-year, $4MM contract in free agency this past offseason but has struggled to a 5.12 ERA in 51 innings - including three runs allowed last night in what will be his final inning with Philadelphia. The Phillies are selecting the contract of righty Lou Trivino and recalling right-hander Daniel Robert, Gelb adds.
