OTM Open Thread 9/25: The Red Sox magic number is one
"With the Houston Astros completely imploding and losing for the fifth time in a row last night to the Oakland, homeless, Sacramento A's by a score of 6-0, the Red Sox Magic Number to make the postseason is down to just one! This means any combination of one Red Sox win or another Astros loss between now and Sunday night gets Boston to the October dance floor."
"Fortunately, The Astros are playing a day game in California today to wrap up their series in Sacramento at 3:30pm eastern time. So if they lose, the Red Sox could clinch a playoff spot before they even take the field tonight in Toronto at 7:00pm. Talk about the playoff picture and whatever else you want in this thread, and as always, be good to one another and Go Sox!"
The Red Sox Magic Number to clinch a postseason berth is one. The Houston Astros have lost five consecutive games, including a 6-0 defeat to the Oakland, homeless, Sacramento A's. Any single Red Sox victory or any Astros loss between now and Sunday night will secure Boston’s playoff spot. The Astros play a day game in Sacramento at 3:30pm Eastern today to finish the series. A loss in that game would allow Boston to clinch before its 7:00pm game in Toronto. Fans are encouraged to remain civil and support the team.
