New Red Sox Caleb Durbin models his game after former Boston MVP
"He was definitely one of my favorite players growing up. A guy I definitely try to model my game around,"
"Obviously, long way to go, but he was a dude that I really enjoyed watching."
"He's a similar guy, similar profile to me as far as size goes. So a lot of conversation about stuff like that and how he was able to overcome a lot in his life and be a superstar. I only hope to be a little bit like that. So it's definitely going to be fun talking to him."
Caleb Durbin is a 5-foot-7 infielder acquired by the Boston Red Sox in a six-player trade with the Milwaukee Brewers. He finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting in 2025. Durbin projects as a plus defender across the infield and a tenacious contact hitter with a low whiff rate and 50 strikeouts in 506 plate appearances in 2025. He models his game after Dustin Pedroia and sees a similar size and profile connection. The Red Sox have openings at second and third, with Durbin and Marcelo Mayer as likely infield candidates. Durbin is more of a traditional pull hitter with limited power and is eager to play at Fenway Park.
