Minor Lines 9/4: Franklin Arias goes deep in Portland
"The Sea Dogs provided a beatdown on the SeaWolves (DET) on Thursday, leading for much of the way before a seven-run eighth inning put the game out of reach. Leading 3-1 in the fourth, recently promoted Franklin Arias crushed his first home run at Portland, a 3-run shot to make the game 6-1. Arias and Juan Chacon each had two hits on the day, and left fielder Karson Simas hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, as well."
"Salem fell behind in the second, due to a two-run error, but didn't allow another run the rest of the game. Gerardo Rodriguez and Jack Winnay each had two hits, with Winnay knocking in three runs. Jesus Travieso allowed the two unearned runs over three innings, and Calvin Bickerstaff picked up the win (3-2), throwing 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Ben Hansen (1-6, 5.91) will get the ball for Salem at 6:35 on Friday."
Worcester lost 6-2 to the RailRiders as Shane Drohan allowed three runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings and Jacob Webb surrendered two runs in relief. Mikey Romero supplied the Woo Sox's only multi-run hit with a two-run homer, and Kristian Campbell had two hits while committing an error at first. The Sea Dogs overwhelmed the SeaWolves with a seven-run eighth; Franklin Arias hit his first Portland homer and Karson Simas added a three-run shot. Hayden Mullins improved to 8-2 with a 2.23 ERA and Cooper Adams recorded a long save. Greenville's game was rained out and will be a Saturday doubleheader.
