Minor Lines 9/11: Mikey Romero goes deep twice
"The Woo Sox jumped ahead early and didn't look back Thursday night, thanks to monster games from third baseman Abraham Toro and second baseman Mikey Romero. Both players smacked two home runs, with Toro (6,7) hitting his in the first and eighth innings, and Romero (8, 9) in the second and eighth innings. Romero, who also had homered on Wednesday night, is on a tear and knocked in five runs on the day."
"Tyler Uberstine pitched great for the second straight outing, allowing just two hits in five innings, and striking out six for his fifth win of the year at Worcester. Luis Guerrero threw a shutout inning for the Woo Sox for the second consecutive day, after struggling in his rehab while at Portland. David Sandlin allowed one run in two innings and struck out two."
Portland won 8-7 at Binghamton when Franklin Arias broke a ninth-inning tie with a home run to provide the game-winning run. Blake Wehunt started and struggled, allowing three runs in the first inning before being pulled. Worcester beat Syracuse 10-1 behind two-homer performances by Abraham Toro and Mikey Romero; Romero hit homers in the second and eighth and drove in five runs. Mikey Romero is 21, a 2022 first-round pick, hitting .221 in 35 Triple-A games with a 30.6% strikeout rate. Tyler Uberstine allowed two hits in five innings for Worcester.
