
Connor Wong’s role declined after Boston traded top catching prospect Kyle Teel for Garrett Crochet, while Carlos Narvaez’s rise reduced Wong’s primary responsibilities. Wong played 63 games in 2025 and hit .190, his second-lowest career batting average. Mickey Gasper moved ahead of both Wong and Narvaez, with interim manager Chad Tracy saying Boston would be aggressive about starting Gasper versus right-handed pitchers. Wong still started Saturday, hit a sixth-inning drive that was overturned after review, then produced an RBI on a double for a 2-1 lead. He added two RBIs in the ninth, was brought in for another run, and his output came despite the home run not counting.
