Braves Sign Austin Cox
Briefly

The Atlanta Braves have signed left-hander Cox, formerly of the Kansas City Royals, to a Major League contract and assigned him to their Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett. Despite only having 35 2/3 innings in the majors with a 4.54 ERA in 2023, the Braves secured him possibly to outbid other teams for a player with limited MLB experience. As a Macon, Georgia native, Cox returns to play in his home state. After experiencing a knee injury in 2023, his promising strikeout rates might offer potential for improvement within the Braves' bullpen.
The Braves signed left-hander Cox to a Major League contract, positioning him in Triple-A Gwinnett after his release from the Royals despite a short MLB career.
Cox, a fifth-round draft pick in 2018, returns to his home state of Georgia where he aims to leverage improved strikeout metrics for a better future.
