César Salazar, 30, has been Houston's #3 catcher for several years but was designated for assignment when the team set its Opening Day roster. He has played sporadically, appearing in 36 games from 2023 to 2025 with a batting line of .232/.318/.268. With the departure of Victor Caratini, Salazar moved up to the #2 spot but was ultimately removed from the roster when Christian Vázquez was added. He will report to Triple-A Sugar Land and could be called up if needed.
