Bobby Berk, formerly of Queer Eye, has disclosed significant financial challenges he faced during his time on the series. During a recent podcast, Berk revealed that he lost money in the first two seasons due to low pay and the impact on his business. He mentioned that while he might have broken even in later seasons, the compensation was minimal compared to scripted shows. Berk highlighted the difficulties of being compensated only for actual filming days and emphasized the workload he undertook compared to his co-stars. Despite these issues, the show helped him gain valuable brand opportunities.
[During] the first two seasons, I definitely lost money being on the show - they paid us basically nothing, and the amount of money that I was losing from not running my company and being gone.
So, with Queer Eye, I would go out weeks before the other guys, and I wouldn't get paid for that. I wouldn't get paid until we were actually shooting an episode.
