What Brad Stevens said of Celtics' No. 28 Draft selection Hugo Gonzalez
Briefly

Boston Celtics president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens, expressed enthusiasm regarding the selection of 19-year-old Hugo Gonzalez as the 28th overall draft pick. Standing at six-foot-six, Gonzalez, hailing from Madrid, Spain, has spent time with Real Madrid's pro and U18 teams. Though averaging only 3.4 points per game last season, Stevens believes Gonzalez's potential stems from his training alongside former NBA players, citing his competitiveness and ‘winning’ characteristics as key attributes. Overall, the Celtics see long-term potential in Gonzalez's growth and future contributions to the team.
"We've been watching Hugo for a long time," Stevens said of the guard/forward during his post-draft press conference at the Auerbach Center. "He's obviously been on everybody's radar for a long time. ... Just a big fan of how he plays. He's tough, he's hard-playing, he cuts, he goes after the ball, he competes. He's got all the intangibles of a winning basketball player."
"I think he's a young guy, but a little bit of an old soul. He's played with adults for a long time," Stevens said. "He's playing on a team full of experienced former NBA players and high, high, high-level pros from all over the world. This guy has been around it at a high level, been coached really well."
