"I think, just kind of going back to that day, so many things ran through my mind. Especially on the ground. You just have this idea. We're in New York trying to compete for our second championship and just like that, it all changes. I've had the same passion since I was three. I've always wanted to be kind of who I am. I could envision it. It just kind of felt like it was taken away from me, and that was a hard pill to swallow."
"I think for me, and my team, the doctor, the organization, the most important thing is making a full recovery. Being back 100 percent, not rushing it. But, I haven't said, like, 'yo, I'm not playing this season' or anything like that. What I will say is: I'm not working out and rehabbing six days a week for no reason."
Jayson Tatum suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon a little more than four months ago during the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Knicks and underwent surgery in New York. He has been rehabbing intensely and maintains a private target return date while prioritizing a full recovery and avoiding rushing back. He remains open to playing in the upcoming season but emphasizes returning at 100 percent. Tatum described feeling devastated and emotional at the time of the injury and has relied on family support during recovery. The Celtics lost the series in six games without him.
