Jaylen Brown blasts Celtics-Spurs officials in expletive-laden rant over lack of foul calls
"I don't care, they can fine me whatever they want but it's crazy. Every time we play a good team it's the same [expletive]. Somebody please pull up the clips. I'm irate at the officiating of the game today. If we can't get to the free-throw line and teams are allowed to be physical and bump us off of our spots and et cetera, then its hard to win games like that."
"I'll take the [expletive] fine. Curtis [Blair], all them dudes was terrible tonight. I don't care, they can fine me whatever they want but it's crazy. Every time we play a good team it's the same [expletive]."
"It was definitely unique. Trying to protect some of their guys because they didn't want to go man, they didn't feel like they could guard us."
Jaylen Brown expressed frustration with officiating after the Celtics' 100-95 loss to San Antonio, saying he would accept any fine for criticizing refs. He described the Spurs' defensive matchup zone as a unique look intended to protect certain players and avoid man-to-man matchups. Brown complained that Boston could not get to the free-throw line while San Antonio attempted 20 free throws and made 14, producing an 11-point advantage at the stripe. The Celtics made three of four free throws in the game and are averaging 18.9 free-throw attempts per game, the fewest in the league. Brown said physical bumps and being shoved off spots made winning difficult.
