Thomas wins RBC Heritage, ending 3-year drought
Briefly

Justin Thomas clinched his first victory in nearly three years at the RBC Heritage by defeating Andrew Novak in a playoff. Thomas, who played a bogey-free round of 3-under 68, capitalized on key moments, including a crucial 25-foot birdie putt on the 16th hole. In the playoff, Novak missed his putt, allowing Thomas to secure the win with a stunning birdie. This victory marks Thomas's return to the elite level of the game after a challenging period, reflecting the emotions tied to his long-awaited win alongside family.
In the playoff, Novak missed from just inside 35 feet, setting the stage for Thomas. The putt was so pure that Thomas dropped his putter before the ball dropped.
"I didn't realize how much I missed winning," Thomas said on the 18th green as he stood next to wife Jill and 5-month-old daughter Molly.
"Winning is hard. It's really, really hard," Thomas said with a tinge of emotion in his voice. "I've worked my butt off and stayed patient, stayed positive."
His previous win was the PGA Championship at Southern Hills in May of 2022, and his game slipped, missing the FedEx Cup playoffs for the first time in 2023.
