After suffering a significant hit from Tampa Bay Lightning's Brandon Hagel, Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov's availability for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs is in doubt. Coach Paul Maurice indicated Barkov has not been cleared to play but hasn't been ruled out. Meanwhile, Hagel faces a potential suspension for his five-minute major penalty for interference. Florida leads the first-round series 2-0, and the Panthers are preparing multiple lineup options should Barkov be unable to participate.
"He hasn't been ruled out yet and he hasn't been cleared," Maurice said regarding the status of Barkov after his injury in Game 2.
"The only players that we hit are the ones that have pucks," Maurice quipped about the physicality of the team, hinting at the hit on Hagel.
