Padraig Harrington to warm up for his US Open appearance next month by playing in Stackstown Pro-Am
Pádraig Harrington has been confirmed to play in the €15,000 Tilestyle Stackstown Pro-Am on Sunday. The three-time Major winner, aged 54, recently tied for 18th at the US PGA Championship in Philadelphia and is keeping his game sharp ahead of the US Open at Shinnecock Hills next month. Castletroy Golf Club expects a large entry for the Trade Electric Group-sponsored Men’s Senior Scratch Cup in June. First played in 1948, the event is one of the oldest and most prestigious scratch cups in Ireland. The field includes Mark Gazi defending his title, along with Dylan Holmes, Paul Coughlan, Paul O’Hanlon, Quentin Carew, and multiple Irish youth internationals.
"Pádraig Harrington has been confirmed in the field for the €15,000 Tilestyle Stackstown Pro-Am this Sunday. The three-time Major winner (54), who recently tied for 18th behind Aaron Rai in the US PGA Championship at Aronimink in Philadelphia, is keeping his game in shape for the US Open at Shinnecock Hills next month."
"Castletroy Golf Club is expecting a bumper entry for next month’s Trade Electric Group-sponsored Men’s Senior Scratch Cup. First played in 1948 and scheduled for Sunday, 14 June this year, the Castletroy Senior Scratch Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious scratch cups in the country."
"The event had its genesis in a conversation between Major Ronnie Deakin and Major Kingston Murray. The latter offered to present a trophy his family had won at a point-to-point meeting, which the club readily and gratefully accepted. Early supporters included Redmond Simcox, Dr Billy O'Sullivan, Commander Crosbie, John Burke, Joe Brown, Mick Power and strong contingents from the Limerick, Lahinch and other neighbouring clubs."
"Another quality winner is expected this year with Tralee’s Mark Gazi, now at Northwestern University, returning to defend the title he won in a dramatic play-off with Davy Reddan. Also vying for the trophy will be 2025 West of Ireland champion, Dylan Holmes, reigning Munster Strokeplay champion Paul Coughlan, former Irish Close winners, Paul O'Hanlon and Quentin Carew, as well as Irish U18 internationals, Isaac Oliver, John-William Burke and Luke Furlong."
