"There are many factors that contributed to the demise of the 2024-25 Boston Bruins. Season-ending injuries to key defensemen Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm. Subpar goaltending. Bad special teams. And on the list was the fact that the B's did not get nearly the desired return on the big offseason investments they made on Elias Lindholm (seven years at $7.75 million per season) and Nikita Zadorov (six years at $5 million)."
""It's more comfortable when you come in here and you already went through the training camp, you went through all the stuff off-ice and you know a lot of guys in the room and you have a lot of friends in here already," said Zadorov. "When you switch teams, sometimes it takes time to get adjusted, so I think I'm past that thing. So for me, it's just to be comfortable in my own skin.""
Season-ending injuries to Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm, subpar goaltending, and ineffective special teams undermined the Bruins' 2024-25 campaign. The offseason signings Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov delivered disappointing returns early, hampered by Lindholm's early back problem and Zadorov's inconsistency and penalty trouble. Zadorov led the league in penalty minutes (145) and minors taken (40). Both players improved as the season progressed: Lindholm settled on the first line with David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie, while Zadorov found consistency paired with Henri Jokiharju after the trade deadline and was re-signed to a multi-year deal.
