Mitch Love, an assistant coach for the Capitals, is gaining significant interest for head coaching jobs in the NHL, notably with the Boston Bruins. The Bruins, after a disappointing season that led to the firing of head coach Jim Montgomery, have interviewed several candidates. Love's successful coaching background, including being a back-to-back AHL coach of the year, adds to his appeal. Bruins GM Don Sweeney aims to finalize a head coach before the NHL Draft in June. Love has also caught the eye of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Seattle Kraken.
"He's done a tremendous job for us and very similar coaching path to where I came from, having been an assistant a couple years." - Spencer Carbery on Mitch Love.
"Boston has talked to a lot of people. Marco Sturm, Jay Woodcroft, Mitch Love, Luke Richardson, Joe Sacco, Jay Leach..." - Pierre LeBrun regarding Bruins' coaching search.
